Field notes
Arrived on site at 7:40 AM, ahead of kitchen opening, and met the store manager. Emptied and replaced the containment media on both rooftop ventilators, then cleaned the membrane around both curbs where grease had tracked past the units toward the primary drain. Inspected both ventilators for proper and efficient operation and reseated the grate on the eastern hood. All waste left the roof with us for compliant disposal.
Output on the eastern ventilator is running heavier than the western and is logged for the next scheduled visit. No kitchen equipment was taken out of service and there was no interruption to trading.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Service
What is GreaseCare?
GreaseCare is a sustainable grease containment service that effectively captures rooftop grease, protecting your roof from premature erosion. Our service includes detailed digital reports to help minimize other identified rooftop risks and extend the lifespan of your roofing membrane.
How does GreaseCare work?
Upon enrolling, a grease containment system is installed in each grease output unit. Scheduled routine visits are performed by your Field Advisor which includes replacing the absorbent inserts, or “pillows,” that safely collect the excess grease. This service includes digital reports including before and after photos, safety recommendations, and a general survey of the rooftop.
What makes the GreaseCare system unique?
Unlike traditional systems, GreaseCare uses an absorbent medium that captures grease more effectively and withstands rain. This system allows for easier and more eco-friendly disposal, reducing risks associated with handling “buckets” of grease.
How does GreaseCare differ from hood cleaning?
Grease containment and hood cleaning are distinctly different services. Hood cleaning deals with in-kitchen grease, while rooftop grease containment addresses grease output on the roof and “above the kitchen”. GreaseCare ensures proper containment to prevent roof damage, which hood cleaning alone cannot achieve.
Risk and Compliance
What issues does GreaseCare prevent?
GreaseCare helps prevent rooftop grease fires, membrane degradation, and pest aggregation. Grease on the roof membrane can lead to structural issues as grease can erode the roof causing water to get in. Unaddressed malfunctioning rooftop exhaust fans can lead to a fire on the roof.
Why should I get GreaseCare?
Improper grease containment is a leading cause of premature roof replacement. Having a vendor who understands and addresses grease-related issues helps protect valuable roofing assets, extending their lifespan and preventing costly damage.
On Site and Signing Up
What businesses use GreaseCare?
Restaurants with grease output (e.g. beef on the menu) who want to mitigate their rooftop risks and maintain documentation of their grease management practices.
How often is the GreaseCare service performed?
The frequency of service varies depending on the restaurant’s grease output and menu, ranging from every two months to every six months. Typically, service is performed quarterly or biannually.
Would GreaseCare impact my business’ operations?
No, GreaseCare does not require kitchen downtime or disrupt your business’s operations. Roof access is required, but there’s no need for heavy equipment like cranes or lifts so the service can be performed at any time of the day.
